This was such a powerful and tender read. Thank you for putting language to the emotional landscapes so many of us quietly navigate. I was just thinking this the other day - what goes on between our ears has such an impact on our life and experience as a whole. The practice of embodiment gives us power to shift and accept.
I felt a resonance in the way you described the push-pull of internalized patterns and the brave, messy work through that. Thank you! 🙏
Thank you so much, Jen, this means a lot to me! 🫶🏽 You're so spot on naming how "what goes on between our ears has such an impact on our life and experience as a whole"! And all too often, we're not truly conscious of these storylines and what they're doing to us! As William James says (paraphrased), "We're soon to become all of our thinking."
When I write, I often have a bit of an inner wrestling match to intuit how to introduce/get into the subject I'm going to write about. Wanting to find an "avenue" that resonates with people. I'm hoping that's not unusual. 😂 That said, I played around with something about how Descartes' "I think, therefore I am" simultaneously says something quite true about us, and, leaves us stuck in our heads ... anxious, frustrated, stressed, worried, afraid, etc. If I'd thought of this then, I might have and included this bit: "I think, therefore I am all too often dejected." (or something like that, and it'd be a bit long winded if I added how we also have the possibility to consciously turn our thoughts to our benefit). Cheers! 💙
Love everything about this reflection, and no, you’re definitely not alone!
I feel that tug-of-war too when trying to find the right way into a piece. But your intuition clearly knows where to lead. I try to remind myself that even when people don’t comment/like/interact etc, many are still reading and being impacted. That thought keeps me going.
Keep writing, you’re sparking such needed conversations! 🙏 💗
I'm SO with you on that reminder (which applies to things I put out on the socials too). Shining light and love into the world is simultaneously its own reward, and, can't help but bring more brightness and beauty into the lives of others.
It’s amazing to me, that oftentimes, the way we talk to ourselves, would never be the way we would even talk to a stranger, much less a loved one! We are our own worst critic!

Much appreciated! 🥰🙏🏽
This was the perfect Sunday morning reflection for me today. Thank you. ❤️
I'm delighted it spoke to you friend! 💙

So true, and both interesting and troubling that we do so! Good thing we can do something about it!
