Nature is nourishment for our souls.
There’s something about being with creation, that reminds us of the miracle and sacredness of life.
When I take a minute to “drink in” the trees, mountains, sunsets, clouds, flowers, and other aspects of nature, it takes me away to a better place. Nature calms my worried mind, eases my stressed body, and fills my wounded heart. There’s something about the majesty of creation that rejuvenates me at a deep level. It’s like, being with the beauty of nature flips a switch in me from “regular lang” to “Best and Truest Lang”. Do you know what I mean?
Just as a small example of this I wonder: If you pause for a moment, and take a few deep breaths while taking in the scenery captured in the picture below, does anything shift in you?
From what I experience and understand, the positive shift creation cultivates within us is so regular and profound, I’d dare to say that:
Connecting with nature, connects a person with their True Self: Whole, peaceful, joyous, wise, and loving.
Why is that, though? Why did this view, from our dining room the other night, so thoroughly delight me?
(Note, I took all the pictures from our house or in our neighborhood. I am more than grateful!)
There’s something, almost beyond words, about nature that reminds us just how magical and miraculous life is. It’s like we’re Neo in The Matrix. Only, instead of a computer downloading how to do kung fu into us, like happened for Neo; creation fills us with a sense of wonder and awe. While a machine taught him how to punch and kick with his arms and legs, in dope ways. Nature, with its poetic sights and sounds, “zaps” us full of the awareness that:
Life is a mysterious, beautiful, and sacred gift—to be cherished and shared with all.
I mean, consider the following truths about each of us that regularly blow my mind:
Your body is trillions of cells, working in harmony with billions of bacteria. And somehow, when you think “walk,” they work together to move you. When you think “look,” they turn your head to look, focus, and receive. And think about how you have a variety of cells for a variety of jobs! You have cells that defend against invaders, cells for passing important messages, cells for nourishing, cells for healing, and more. You, are an ecosystem unto yourself. An everyday miracle!
Yet, you are not your body, with all its brilliant bits. Because, YOU are able to “step back” and observe what’s going on in your body. How crazy cool is that?
And consider this: Out of all the billions of people in the world, somehow, the right two to make you came together. And not only that, but out of all their millions of sperm and eggs, the exact right ones to form you ended up uniting. And, not only that, but it all happened at the precisely right moment for creating you, the way you’ve turned out. The odds are literally mind bending. You’re magic!
While we could easily keep listing logical ways we’re each a magical miracle, what I’m saying is: It’s as if being in nature downloads the knowledge and energy of the above truths, into our very being. It’s like the diverse beauty inherit to our planet, is music that gets all of our cells, as well as whatever else makes a person, singing in glorious harmony together. Nature returns us to our essential nature—people who live as one human family, living on one sacred earth.
