A Little Update/Love Note
A few thoughts on focus, taking the long road, and how incredible you are
Hi beloved one. How are you?
I’ve been doing some self-reflection regarding my endeavors as a life coach, soul care companion, writer, and yoga teacher lately. A big theme that’s come up again and again is, Focus. As in, a lack of focus, has been blocking me from being as successful as I desire to be.
You know how they say, “Rome wasn’t built in a day”? That same principle holds true for the coaching and soul care businesses I’m growing, as well as the book, The Love Effect: Transcending Division Through Curiosity, Courage, and Care, that I’m reediting, expanding, and planning to publish by the end of the year.
I bring that up because, in my reflections, one of the things I realized, is my commitment to writing a weekly piece for Substack, is holding me back from focusing on these longer-term projects. And, as much as I love the “rush” that comes with completing a piece and sharing it with you, it’s important for me to take the long view.
To really do my new occupational endeavors and book justice, it’s important for me to really devote myself to them. Which brings to mind Martin Luther King Jr. and the medieval cathedrals in Europe.
I mention the latter, because many of these architectural beauties took decades and decades to build. Which, meant many, or most, of the people who labored to build them, never actually saw the completed project!
Likewise, while MLK Jr. certainly did witness some shifts within the U.S. in regard to racial relations and the spread of lovingkindness. He also intentionally laid the “foundation” for a proverbial house of love and unity. One he knew he wouldn’t see in his lifetime, but trusted will eventually come to fruition.
In other words, I’ve been learning to:
Let doing, creating, and building (toward) good, be all the reward I need.
With that in mind, I’m setting myself free from my weekly Substack commitment; in order to focus my efforts on the projects my life purpose is calling me to pour myself into.
What does that mean and look like practically? Honestly, I’m not sure. But as it could very well mean you’ll see less from me here for a while. I wanted to let you know. While also:
Telling you you’re amazing!
And letting you know you’re loved more than you could ever imagine!
Hugs & Love,
Lang

There is something quietly courageous in stepping back from constant output in order to protect the slower work that asks for more depth, patience, and devotion. So much of the world rewards visibility over construction, immediacy over foundation. I appreciated the honesty of recognizing that some things cannot grow properly while attention is scattered in too many directions at once.
